Viafo are delighted to have worked with London Based City Showcase (www.cityshowcase.co.uk) to launch an Android application for their Capitol Wide music event which starts today. The event, lasting the whole weekend, showcases the hotest new bands and musical talent in the UK.

The app includes band information, the events (with locations) and social networking activities for the event. Viafo are using our Services Gateway to enable a full range of social networking and location check-in features throughout the application including integrated Twitter and Twitter #tag management, integrated Location Check-Ins and the ability to follow bands you like without leaving the app.

The application has been built in HTML5 with Phone Gap and using the Services Gateway to enable all the social networking functionality.

"This is our first major public use of the gateway," said David O'Neill, Viafo CEO, "and we're really pleased this for such a major event in our home town."

Viafo Inc., a Seattle based company, specialising in the integration of web services to mobile apps, launched reference apps on Android today. The two apps, ViaNewz and ViaSearchz, are designed to demonstrate the power and flexibility of the Viafo Services Gateway in enabling complex web based features in mobile apps and allowing brands and others to easily integrate social and location services into their app strategy.

"We're excited to have our first apps on Android," said David O'Neill, CEO and Founder of Viafo, "it's importance as a platform can't be underestimated and these are the first of a wave of products from us and from third parties licensing our products which we expect to see launched in the second quarter of 2011."
